Week 11 ~ Book of Mormon and Fuegooo

Hello!!

This week was a wild one haha. But, it was a week of so many blessings too! We started out by teaching one of our new friends, Francisco. We visited his house and the first thing he said to us was "If there is only one God, why are there so many churches on the earth today?" I think I almost screamed!!!! We taught him about the first vision and how Joseph Smith asked this same question, and it was like a light went on for him. It was so awesome! We're excited to go back and teach him more.

We had a farewell party for three of the missionaries that are leaving this week and it went so well. My companion and I worked with the other missionaries to plan, decorate, order food and do everything and it went so much better than expected. We said bye to the missionaries at the terminal last night and although we're sad to see them go, I can't help but be excited for them! They've done all they can do here and now it's time for them to start back on their life adventures.

On Saturday my companion and I had the opportunity to fast. We decided to fast for our investigators and wow! Did we see miracles. 6 of our investigators were able to come to Stake Conference with us, in a zone that is very far from ours. One of our investigators recieved a huge package full of clothes and toys for her two little grandsons, who have hardly anything. Two of our investigators really listened to Stake Conference and told us they realized how importance baptism and faith are. And a ton of other things!! It was so awesome and really strengthened my testimony of fasting and how the Lord can work miracles through our little prayers.

Spiritual experiences:
My companion and I had recieved a reference from the members mulitiple times for a lady, and she was also the daughter of one of our investigators and had listened intently to our lessons. But, even though we knew where she lived we felt prompted by the Spirit not to pass by her house. We didn't know why, but we just knew that we shouldn't.

This week we were talking to some of our investigators and we found out that this lady is living in a house of "Narcos", or in other words, a house with a group of people who are in charge of the drug cartel here. Wow. We felt really protected by the Lord because he had prompted us not to pass by her house. I know the Lord protects us each day of our mission.

Funny experiences:
One of our investigators grandsons tried to burn the Book of Mormon in our lesson this week. My companion and I were horrified.

We were in the middle of a superrr spiritual lesson. I'm testifying to one of our less active friends about the importance of family and temple, when all of the sudden I see out of the corner of my eye a naked little boy SPRINTING down the street. Turns out it was her son. The lesson ended quickly after that.

We have not had any water in our house for the past three days, so we've been sleeping with the hermanas of barrio 2. It's made for some fun stories and lots of good times. Please pray for us that our water will get turned back on so that we can return to our apartment haha.

Sorry for the super long email this week!! I just wanted to quickly share my testimony with you all. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a missionary. Although the days can be hard and long, I know there is no where else I would rather be in the world right now. I see the miracles the Lord works through his servants every single day, and I feel so lucky to be a part of this work. I know He lives and I know He loves us.

Love you all!! Have the best week!

Love,
Hermana Spackman
